Fresh hiphop with a live band
L4 is a hiphop formation that has been playing since 2007 and is performing live since 2008. With a live band in the background they are different from the typical ‘boom bap rap’ that you are used to. It’s fresh, because they have the tendency to cross over to jazz, funk, soul and even reggae. Their music has no limits and therefore guarantees an unforgettable show!
United Nations of Hip Hop
L4 has been described as ‘The United Nations of Hip Hop’. In other words, they come from totally different corners of the world. That gives their music it’s great diversity as they have a different musical background and culture. The rappers of L4 are Stamina and DNA, coming from Angola and Suriname. This combination of different musical backgrounds creates a unique sound!
Recent successes
The rappers of L4 have been actively making music for little less than 10 years now. However you could find them freestyling with friends here and there during open mic sessions before it became a fulltime business. In 2004, EMI signed the rappers while being part of the band R.O.O.O.M. In 2007 they started the band L4 and were signed to T2 Entertainment. In 2008, they released their album ‘Counting Coins’. This album was at the number 1 position in the Dutch Alternative Charts for 2 weeks and made it to number 52 in the TOP 100. Internationally, L4 has performed in the USA, New York and Washington DC, as well as in Bratislava, and Slovakia. Nationally, L4 has performed everywhere, from Queens Night to Parkpop, Dunya Festival, Nachtegiel (3FM), Radio 538 and many other venues in the country.

L4 is now working on a new album that is planned to be released in January. The album is called ‘itwillbwhatitis4aslongasweletitlast’ and includes the songs Ghetto Politics and Nasty Mind, which are already available to listen on iTunes and on their website: http://www.l4music.com
